Weight loss bet with colleagues: keep it fair and voluntary 🏢

A weight loss bet at the office can be really motivating: shared goals, a bit of ambition and something to talk about at the coffee machine. To keep it fun and make sure nobody feels pressured, it needs a few clear rules.

✅ Five rules for a fair weight loss bet

🙋 Voluntary

Everyone decides for themselves whether to join. No pressure, no disadvantage for saying no – participation is never mandatory.

📊 Rank in percent

Whoever starts heavier usually loses kilos faster. In percent, everyone has the same chance.

🔒 Weight stays private

Nobody has to show their weight to colleagues. With FatFight other teams never see kilos, and a fight can be set to “percent only”.

🏆 Team instead of solo

Department vs. department is more fun and takes the pressure off individuals.

🥗 Stay healthy

It is about exercise and motivation, not losing weight as fast as possible. More than about 1 kg per week is generally not recommended.

🤝 Small group or whole department?

For a small group a normal fight is enough: free for two, with up to 6 fighters there is a 3-day trial and then the group pass. For departments there is FatFight for companies: team vs. team with up to 15 or 50 fighters, every team with its own invite link and an anonymous HR summary at the end without names or individual values.

❓ Frequently asked questions

How do you organise a weight loss bet between colleagues?

Volunteers log their weight regularly and progress is ranked in percent. With FatFight everyone logs their own weight and the leaderboard updates instantly – for departments also team vs. team.

Do colleagues have to show their weight?

No. With FatFight other teams never see kilos, only progress in percent. A fight can also be set entirely to “percent only”.

Can an employer make a weight loss challenge mandatory?

Participation should always be voluntary, with no disadvantage for saying no. Each person consents to the processing of their weight themselves.

What does a weight loss challenge for a whole department cost?

Prices for team vs. team challenges with up to 15 or 50 fighters are on the FatFight company page; you book instantly yourself, with an invoice showing VAT.
